Dragon Lore History written by Dilandau Ciel
The battle was fierce and desperate but before long it became apparent that the Allied Forces, even with the might of the Dragons and their Riders, were no match for the greater numbers of Mordens armies and slowly they began to fall.
In desperation the Dragon Knights called upon the Goddess. The bard let a sardonic smile twist his mouth as he quoted the line, the one everybody knew, but his eyes showed his pain:
And so did the waters come. From north and south holy fire did burn, and the waters came and with this, the Great Cataclysm, most of our world was bathed in ocean, and most everything was destroyed As he spoke he looked each of those gathered about him in the eye in turn Such a price! But Morden's scourge was destroyed also, and the races could begin anew, of all the myriad of races there had been, only a few remained.
Humans, the High and Dark Elves, Orcs and Dryads were the most abundant after the Goddess' waves had subsided. But the race of Dwarves was nearly wiped out in their entirety along with the Hobbits and Giants. The bard allowed emotion to colour his words and they shook with anger and sadness for all that had been needlessly destroyed and lost.
The second age began as a time without magic. The Goddess, from whom all magic flowed, slept. Magic ceased to exist in our world for nearly two hundred years. The survivors of the cataclysm rebuilt their lives on the remaining dry land, an archipelago of islands spotted throughout the Great Sea.
With the exception of the Orcs tribal warfare, which it would take more than the end of the world to stop, the bard acknowledged the appreciative chuckles with a nod it was a time of recovery people pulled through, as they always seem to, and for two hundred years it was a time of peace. For the first time since the tale had started, the grim tone left the bards voice and his manner was relaxed and light, reflecting the contentment of the age.
