I know im new to the forums and the system as a whole, I know a few of you but what i am wondering is how one goes about creating a character (imminent slap detected ;)) I really want to play a Dwarf, and Robin has said that he will help me design the kit, you would laugh if u saw me, as I am 6'7" LOL, but when on my knees that makes a perfect size dwarf, plus i would be slow, grumpy and constantly complaining, thus a perfect Dwarf LOL.

Once completed, a large twelve pointed star lay shaped upon the ground between them. Looking up at Cyrus with a look of trepidation upon her face she reached out and took his hand...drawing him into the star with one hand as with the other she swiftly draws a blade and slices it across her palm... watching as the knife traces a welt through her skin and the blood that wells from it watching its path as it falls through the air to the ground below..striking the ground in the center of the star....

*This can go wrong but its quick and ....relatively painless....*

Opening her thoughts to the dragon she focus’s on the beat of her heart, using their mental link she encourages Cyrus to do the same..wrapping his mind into a safe cacoon showing him what is needed.... picturing the flow of blood coursing through her body reaching each part. Feeling Thaleron sour into their minds as he had done so many times before, she felt him seep into her being and through into Cyrus. Using their bound souls he begins to systematically infringe on every part of their beings. She relaxes and allows her mind to drop away from her own control and into that of the dragons.....

Thaleron feels her releasing her hold on everything that she is assumes control over her very being. He becomes that which controls the beating of their heart as they slip into the realm in which he exists in physical form. As their mind slips into a dreamlike state they see through his eyes.

As she finally gives over her entire being to the dragon a shimmer appears around them which momentarily takes form, around them materializes a massive sleek form. Purple scales shimmering as the light ripples down his hide, ending in the long sharp tail. The massive head turns but a fraction, an eye glancing around in the sheer seconds it takes for the expansive wings to enfold their forms before the dragon, Althea and Cyrus vanish from sight and from Cornovii.

His vision a kaleidoscope of colours bombard their senses as they enter his realm. Feeling his powerful body, the beat of the massive webbed wings, seeing through his eyes as he scans the countryside below. Sensing other beings within this realm. This is neither a good nor bad realm but neutral and all that exists here does not favour life. A sensation creeps up from within Althea, infusing with her thoughts, her attention turning to a dark presence just outside of her vision but there none the less, her curiosity is held, steered by the darker parts within her being...

The experience over in seconds the dragon slams their mind and bodies back into one as he releases them through the fabric of his realm into their own. Their bodies deposited gently as the dragon unfurls his wings before de-materialising back into his own realm of existence; Althea collapses limply to the ground, Cyrus though disorientated remains conscious.]]>

Second, I do not live anywhere close but while searching for family friendly LARP groups; I have 3 Children (want 3 more) and we need a good LARP to go to here near Round Rock, Texas. Dragon Lore appeared in the results and I thought I'd check it out. I really like what I see and I wish we could be there for the next event. :(

To fill the empty hole in my heart I turned to LARPing... Joined NERO Boston and had a great time with all the R/P but the boffer fighting was more wrist slaping with padded poles. to top it off I again had to move and could no longer make events.

Now I'm retired from the Navy and have some extra time on my hands so I went looking for LARP's near me...Lo and behold... they either are SCA (which is not a bad thing per say) or out to beat each other black and blue while wearing jeans and t-shirts at a local park.

So all of that brings me to the question I wanted to ask (remember? from back at the top of this post ;) ) The question is this, May I please try to open a chapter of Dragon Lore here in the United States, State of Texas, City of Round Rock? Or if not may I borrow from your rules? (which I love) Any feedback is welcome.

Those character’s that have the most plot around them currently are simply those that have submitted back stories to the plot team!

Something that's only just occoured to me...
I'm fairly sure the Dragon Lore system rules (litterally rules, as opposed to roleplay) don't include any kind of "you just die" abilities and just wanted to clear this up:

If a player takes too much damage they go down into a death count.
But what happens if they are attacked whilst in a death count?
I'd just assumed that, basically, nothing actually changes ~ you can't actually hack up a dying person to get them to die any faster.
Doing so may just be appropriate roleplay for a sinister demon type critter and a way of attracting player's attention to the plight of the suffering victim, but doesn't achieve anything per-se.

Otherwise there doesn't seem all that much point in having a Death Count rule in many ways...



On a slightly similar note I observed the calls "Throat Slit" and "Decapitate" being used...
Don't get me wrong: I'm not against abilities like that exisiting.
I'd just quietly suggest letting people know of their existance and how they work before they get waved around.

So I thought I'd make some inquieries on that front.

Secondly: Could someone (or, indeed, anyone) who has gone along to Mayfest give me bit of a feel for what it's like?
Things like how the events are structured, what the attendence numbers are like, PvP or Players Vs Crew, what the quality of folks role-play tends to be and that kind of info are all importaint.
I've only ever wandered along to a single fest event and found it very tedious with about 50 players who all seemed to know pretty much what was going to happen when (at least in general terms), about 4 crew (which meant fights were just stupid), many people who just didn't bother role-playing at all and, tediously, a point where half a dozen players all turned up and told me they were going to kill me (and then changing their minds when they realised I was new to the system and didn't have anything worth looting).
I'm keen to avoid a repeat of a weekend standing around a wet field being very bored, but do want to give fest style LRP a second chance...

So I thought I'd make some inquieries on that front.

Firstly: Would going along to Mayfest require any conversion from "our" rule system to "theirs", or does everything just work the same in both systems?
