The journey by night was calm enough as events raced through Ned Sterns mind. More rifts, more danger, more blood shed. Young Elizabeth Stern slept below deck, his sister. That in itself had been a happenstance and revelation. Their father was still going strong.

He looked out in the sea, the dark calm waters another world, a world like that which he had witnessed that very night at a high price. What he had risked and what he had won seemed worth it, but again the price of innocents seemed high, but then so it must always be when fighting such a dark force. He smiled to himself and pulled his cloak closer about him as a wind blew across the deck. He knew what what he must do, and how to do it. A less experienced Ned had neen more prepared to take a longer route, but now he knew that that would cost time, lives and threaten his plans. HE would return to Utanyeat and forge his destiny. He patted the hilt of his sword, his friend and felt the valuable prize close to his chest and did wonder...
Behind him, the snoring figure of Tirresias Stranglefoot wrestled with his dreams. The rift's magic had called upon him to fight demons outer and inner, and the fight was getting stronger each time...
Recognising the pattern of snoring, Ned was rather surprised, a little angry with himself for not having been more careful and perhaps happy to see a familar face all rolled into one. It reminded him of recent times and a special kinship, after all, with Sariph falling, the two of them were the last survivors of the adventurers who had been involved with the rift in Utanyeat. Several thoughts passed through Neds mind as how next to act, what would be best to serve his purposes? But here was a companion who gave him a strange sanctuary and would be worthwhile to have alongside. Ned let Tirresias sleep, a thing he was not quite ready to allow himself to do, not yet; the dark memories of his recent battles lurked like a ghost waiting to strike in vengeance. He knew it would happen and was not ready to confront that just yet. Ned felt it would plague him a while yet.
After some time passes, Tiresias wakes, glances over to Ned, still awake and dealing with 'something' he utters:
Sleep my friend, I will keep her steady. Where do we head to? Catch some rest, for all our sakes (he glances at the hatchway to where young Elizabth slept) eh?
'We are going back to Utanyeat my friend. Straight on. I will grab some sleep while you watch the way. Wake me if anything happens'
"Utanyeat eh? fair enough - i will do that - now rest..."
Tiresias maintains the focus of the ship and ponders on the days ahead - sensing storms ahead and reflecting onn what he recalls about Utanyeat
[plot - someone - please, tell me what an old guy who has travelled loads - mainly to get away from dad's beatings... - might know about said place - thanks]
Feeling somewhat refreshed and slightly higher in hopes, Ned met the new day looking at the land approaching, the smell of the sea strong in his senses and a grey sky rounding overhead. He stood up, brushed himself down and checked that everything was where it should be before going to stand besides Tiresias.

'Ready to make the fews days travel to Utanyeat, my friend?'
beaking out of a small snore, Tiresias, startled, coughs, spluters, and utters" yes yes, the wind is just right especialyoh..er... erm - what did you say again friend?"
